@nik find something you'll actually use. I learned Mandarin for about a year (forgotten all of it) so I could speak to some of my coworkers at the Chinese lunch table.

@stuff @moonman i have two real irl friends (one of which is my bf), i *know* 10 people i can be friendly with, then everyone else is a boomer at work

@nik @moonman Meeting people is a problem for me too. My best friends in America come from a car club (for Dodge/Plymouth Neon). But I didn't find a close group when I had a Jeep Wrangler. I guess all I can suggest is to hit Meetup.com harder while it still works.

@nik @stuff well with the virus it's tough, but if you want to meet people go to a riot I guess, no one's tut-tutting them.

@nik @stuff Right before the virus, I made a decision to start going to lots of meetups. Mostly tech ones because that's what I know, but not exclusively.

That got shot in the butt.

@moonman @nik I met a very impressive young man once, David White. He was 18 and worked on his hours. At 19 he became a pilot for a Part 135 operation in Alaska, so technically he was Capt. White then :-)
