I remember how I went to buy my car, and it came with an option for AWD. But all cars at the dealer were RWD. "Nobody buys AWD in Texas," said the salesman, "Why would you?" I custom-ordered one from the factory. And a week ago I was cruising like a baller on icy freeways. The car came with some pretty amazing all-weather tires, which are even snow-rated.
@stuff AWD cars are awesome. I took an AWD Jeep Compass rental over Monarch Pass in a blizzard and didn't slip once. Now I have my own Subaru Legacy AWD, and it's great.

@kazriko Aww man, why not Imprezza?
@stuff I didn't want to buy new, and all they had on the lot used was that one Legacy 36, and a bunch of foresters and outbacks.
@stuff (It is a Legacy 36 Limited edition though, so it's very nice for a used car.)
@kazriko I rode from Albuquerque to Tucson in a 2013 Legacy once, it seemed decent. Unfortunately, I didn't get to drive it.
