Wow this is utterly terrible. I can't even set up my account. The on screen keyboard is covering the input fields. I can't even see what I typed. If there are hints about why my inputs are invalid, I can't see them. Great job KDE. 👏
Gonna crawl back to pmOS+Phosh.
Okay, shipping it with Plasma Mobile was a terrible idea. Who the heck QA'd this? Ubuntu Touch had problems but at least I could set up an account.
I'll make a bug report, but until then, cc @PINE64 and @plasmamobile . Please update your factory images or something.
Thank Glob I have the convergence kit so I can (hopefully) get through this mess and test more of KDE using a USB keyboard.
@PINE64 @plasmamobile Also the system upgrade fails because of some libcanberra version can't be found.
@kazriko @plasmamobile @PINE64 I am well aware. My first PinePhone was an Ubuntu Touch Community Edition, which I then upgraded ( 😉 ) to postmarketOS.
And neither had this issue.
My gripe is that Plasma Mobile was touted as being the best graphical environment in one of the blog posts. I have a hard time believing that when basic functionality is missing. Heck, the OSK doesn't show up half the time. And unlike on Phosh, there is no way to force it open.
@kazriko @plasmamobile @PINE64
Again, I'm fine with beta testing, but when the very first thing that starts up when you power on your new device is completely unusable, that is kind of messed up. Why even ship an OS at that point?
Well, at least Plasma Mobile is getting more bug reports this way, but like, if this is people's first impression and they know alternatives exist, why shouldn't they just improve those?
Personally, I'll be sticking to Phosh for these reasons.
@kazriko @plasmamobile @PINE64 I should probably also clarify that I *really really* like the PinePhone, that's why I bought a second one in such a hurry when the first one got stolen.
I just wish factory images weren't changed on a whim, when there are ones that have already been tested by the community.
