I remodeled my house
I lived in 3 free-standing houses with attached garages in the U.S., and all 3 had the same design feature: the door from garage opened into laundry, which then connected to the rest of the house, typically into kitchen area.

WHY?
Isn't garage supposed to be dirty while laundry is supposed to be clean?

I do not think that Americans are just super dumb and savage. There must be a very good reason why they build their houses that way.

Although I am curious about that reason, at this time it's no longer important, because I moved the door from position G1 to position G2 in the attached picture.

This allows to disrobe in the mud room upon arrival by automobile. It's way more convenient. Also, it permits causal access to garage without intruding into the laundry area.

@stuff In mine, the garage opens straight to the kitchen. Yeah, there probably should be an entryway for you to remove any muddy clothes before the kitchen or laundry room. I don't have a good way of moving the door though, the only other position would put it into the living room. We don't even technically have a mudroom either though, the living room just has a tiny spot of linoleum for you to step onto when removing shoes/etc by the front door.

re: I remodeled my house
@kazriko In one of the 3 houses, there was an option of adding a door from garage into the porch area, to the left of the door A. But being a king of procrastinators, I put it off until we sold the house. It took me 4 years to get around to it in this one.
