I was in IKEA today and they had a gamer table on sale. It had pointless RGB lights shining up. At first I was offended by the blatant attempts at exploitation. But then I thought that I had no grounds, given that I am not a gamer myself. Maybe they feel appreciated because a soul-less corporate entity acknowledged their purchasing power.

@lanodan @stuff I never used to care but I bought the asus rog strix cyberpunk tkl keyboard and found out the swiches are soldered to the board when I needed to replace one. I wont buy something with 'gaming' in the name ever again full stop

@graf @lanodan The design looked pretty standard. They had desks with the exact same frame next to it. I thought it was quite sturdy and overall acceptable desk. Here's the link:

@stuff My son isn't a huge gamer either, but he likes the RGB stuff... So I built him a ~10 year old FX6100 system with RGB fans, hubs, etc. He's happy with it aside from the lack of an RGB capable video card.

@kazriko Well sure. At least you can put the box under the table. But these lights shine up. They basically do nothing but blind the user.

@stuff Hah. Seems like the kind of thing I expect from the gaming industry these days, completely useless, and often detrimental lighting.
