@requiem Mostly? Historically, they've largely been executed by their fellow revolutionaries over minor sectarian differences. Of course, it's pretty rare to have a civilization that thrives after a revolution, especially a violent one.

@requiem after the French Revolution, the answer was to go to war. It seemed like they believed they had an enlightened, rational system to bring to the rest of the world. But they did it with violence. Maybe that doesn’t repeat in other historical cases — I don’t know enough about revolutions.

@requiem @mathiasx Peaceful revolutions have a better track record for stability afterward, but at the same time there's some kinds of tyrants that can't be brought down by those.

@requiem
Historically, it's not pretty.

@requiem the phrase I keep hearing from GFS is “chop wood, carry water.” It comes from Zen teachings, I think. It’s not a worry about macro issues. It’s putting in the hard work on the day to day, and person-level issues. And in this case, constructive / helpful labor. If any of that makes sense in the context you’re thinking of?
