Musk cancelling free Starlink for Ukraine, possibly crippling the Ukraine war effort.

@jeremiah Naah, it's nothing even close to what's really happening, although Musk could not resist trolling on Twitter. In actual fact, Ukrainian terminals use so much traffic that they're overloading the heck out of the network. This always happens if a user does not pay for the "free" resource, BTW. That caused outages. And, at the same time, Musk is asking U.S. Government to pay for their own blessed war. Which they will do, make no mistake about it. So, the outcome that I predict is two-fold: 1. U.S. pays for Ukrainian Starkink traffic profligacy, 2. SpaceX implement a software patch that installs quotas that shape Ukrainian traffic to something sensible, so that network integrity can be maintained. Meanwhile, Ukrainian ingrats will continue abuse Musk on Twitter, all the while consuming the products of his genius for free.
@union @jeremiah Of course, "Network" is a relative term here. The only parts that would be involved for serving Ukraine are the satellites that are overhead at the moment, and the base stations in Poland. It's definitely overloading those base stations, but it shouldn't impact Starlink in any country other than those immediately around Eastern Poland and Western Ukraine.
But yeah, SpaceX shouldn't be required to give this away for free indefinitely.
