Alcun Atirutan BBS

, time to bring back the RSS/Atom feed icon displayed when a website has an RSS/Atom feed. rss

It's long past-due!

On that note, do check out Brandon Quakkelaar's RSS Discovery Engine:
https://rdengine.quakkels.com/

It's pretty damn fetch!

Okay, that blew up!

All you wonderful / rss users, what readers do you use / recommend?

@rysiek hi rysiek, you are right! And I wholeheartedly recommend CommaFeed.com as RSS reader. For desktop, I use Thunderbird or Akregator. They are all free software.

@rysiek is now a good time to mention that all Mastodon links can have .rss appended to them?

e.g. https://social.artemai.art/@jared.rss

@jared it absolutely is.

Hashtags too:
https://mstdn.social/tags/Browsers.rss

@rysiek @anildash Another thing you can do is add a “link rel=alternate“ in the head of your weblog page so feed readers can auto discover your feed.

Example from my blog:

<link href="https://rob.crabapples.net/feed.xml" rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Rob Fahrni" />

I encourage everyone to do this because I make a feed reader that checks for it. 😃

@fahrni @anildash https://rys.io/en/index.html got six of these in my <head>

@rysiek @anildash Checks out! 👍🏼

@rysiek what RSS reader do you recommend? Have been wanting to get one set up for myself

@haubles I am using Akregator but will probably switch to something else. So I don't have a good recommendation.

Others in the thread might!

@rysiek I tried all web-based solutions and found them lacking. So I went back to a desktop reader, using Liferea specifically. I cannot access it on a handheld device, but I don't want it anyway.

@rysiek I use Newsblur but I know that's not for everyone. When I don't use newsblur, I dabble with rssowl.
