U.S. healthcare
Me last week: My wife needs this prescription filled.
Walgreens: we canβt fill it until next week because reasons.
Me: OK but my wife needs this prescription no later 10:00AM that day because she will be out of medication and missing a dose can result in seizures and Iβll have to call an ambulance.
Walgreens: we open at 7:00AM
Walgreens this morning: we deleted all the orders for your prescriptions.

@requiem mother fuckers - does any pharmacy have any instock in the state?
U.S. healthcare
@reconbot itβs not a stock thing, they just continuously fuck-up orders and they are the only game around.
We normally do scripts though the mail but these have been changing as they figure out the right mix so thatβs not an option, and given the weather this time of year we try not to plan things that require more driving than necessary.
U.S. healthcare
@requiem ahh I have a little competition around here, I've been able to go to the smaller places - I'm trying to keep them aloft but CVS is hard to beat with operations and supplychain and around here.
The smaller places though, pays to make friends in a pinch as I learned caring for my parents.
U.S. healthcare
@reconbot π―. We have one small local pharmacy but they have major supply issues so canβt be depended on for this sort of ad-hoc stuff.
I am however looking into synthesis again.
U.S. healthcare
@requiem every... fucking... time
my kiddo uses methylphenidate patches, because he is an off the walls hyperactive child with a sensory thing so pills are a hard no, liquids are okay but they wear off really fast.
The patches last twice as long but the generic ones don't work as well and leave these nasty rashes. So there is always a two step fight
CVS: well by law and usually your insurance we have to try and fill the generic.
Me: neither of those are true, we just pay more, I'm fine with that
CVS: well we have to order it.
Me: not seeing a problem here
CVS: well this is so specialty you need to pay for it before we order.
Me: here is my card
2 weeks later
Me: so when is it coming in
CVS: oh we didn't order it because corporate requires special authorization for that, we have the generic though.
Me: ... you know this medicine when given correctly reduces instances of child abuse in ADHD children by 100% right. You're basically telling me that you want to see my child abused and you're not willing to give me what I paid for. Bravo, good job.
U.S. healthcare
@kusuriya when did pharmacies get so powerful? When did they decide to become cops?
If a doctor orders the medicine, fill the fucking bottles and take my money; wtf?
U.S. healthcare
@requiem Yes. I understand some of the hem and haw around special order controlled substances, unexpected consequences from how they changed the laws due to opioid abuse.
But fuck I paid you, a doctor signed the order, I've been ordering this from you for almost a year now, I give you my ID to keep track of who you're giving controlled substances to...
U.S. healthcare
@requiem whaaa?
re: U.S. healthcare
@reconbot that's as much as I can say without violating the rules here π
