The problem is, what America is selling is no longer a superior product. Allow me to illustrate.
I used to have a book called "Front Of Secret War" ("Фронт Тайной Войны"). It was a collection of propaganda stories about American spies trying to subvert, infiltrate, and agitate. In one of them, someone transported vinyl records across the border, on which the first 30 seconds was classical music, and the rest was an anti-communist podcast.
