@deprecated_ii He's not wrong, though. SSPARS only has (an officially listed...) range of about 3,000 miles, from a known fixed location. Theypre also lower resolution than modern days systems, which us important in the age of drone warfare.
When he says ''Any Burke in the fleet" he's talking about destroyers, of which we have close to 100 (some assembly required). The SPY 6 radars are able to track more targets, and smaller targets as well, which, I repeat myself, is important in the age of drone warfare.
So yes, it's bullshit that a radar building got damaged, but it's on its way to becoming borderline obsolete do to the changing nature of modern warfare.
the qatari radar was also built in 2013. it's not a cold war relic
@deprecated_ii Things built on old tech are still old tech. A deuce is still 1940s tech, even if it was built in 2006 (well, those use a newer engine and an automatoc tranny, but you get the idea).
ironically, cramming the ground radar into one relatively small package through advanced technology made it a lot easier to destroy. if it was one of those giant radar arrays from the 60s it would still be working
