I can't believe they cancelled the 42113 lego set. My son has been looking forward to assembling that thing for months now. Absolutely ridiculous. I guess I'm going to have to piece the set together from bricklink so he can build it from bootleg instructions.

@anime That is a really fantastic manga, thanks for sharing it. It's like the 1632 Assiti Shards idea as put into manga form.

Just as 1984 was not meant to be a Howto guide, no matter how much the political correctness crowd wants it to be, http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/30142 Little Brother is also not meant to be a howto guide, no matter how much the DHS is trying to make it one in Portland.

@fribbledom Time to move to somewhere that actually has insulated walls I suppose.

@Johncdvorak since Nortel was mentioned in last week's DH Unplugged, good to mention that Chinese industrial espionage is what killed it. Maybe something to follow up on with tomorrow's episode.

Of course, it hasn't been 3 months yet since I put this pleroma instance online, so maybe it will have the same issue.

Wish my mastodon instance didn't require me to manually restart nginx every 3 months because the certificate expired.

@anime Now that I've read the whole thing. The buildup was slowly gathering acquaintances, but suddenly a dam breaks and everyone is actively friends with her. Kind of a social proof thing. A number of them are kind of there and kind of friends with her, but nobody seems to be willing to actively go out of their way to be friends with her until Tamura and Yoshida from the field trip and Nemoto are actively friends with her. Because she befriended those three, she managed to pull some of their friends together into one loosely affiliated group, along with her middle school friends and other random friends. Curious to see if she ends up reuniting with Imae and how many friends she brings along to college.

@union Makes sense. Can only really help those who want to be helped.

@trokhymchuk Have already done that research about what distros lack that. Just haven't picked one yet.

@union Time to export more LNG?

(The Amazon Prime is mostly just a default to get the free shipping. We barely use the streaming service associated with it.)

@beej The pay for indies could be coupled with selective binging. You mostly pay for indies, but you have one streaming service at a time that you pay for, and your family binge watches what they want to on that streaming service during the month. You then cancel it after a month or two, and pick another streaming service for the next month. We've actually trimmed down to just 3 streaming services (Youtube Premium, Netflix, Amazon Prime) and pay about $70 on Patreon in addition.

@deshipu @trokhymchuk Attempts to make file systems behave like feature-rich databases always seems to end in failure.

I'm already looking for a way out from systemd though since it's kind of the Borg of the linux world. I'm not a big fan of sysV either though. I've been dabbling in OpenRC and Shepherd, and heard good things about Runit and S6. Haven't decided which way I'm going to go, part of that is dependent on the distros available for those systems.

@deshipu Depending on where you are, it could be either the City or the HOA that considers their lawns more important. People have been put in jail, or had their homes seized for failing to keep their lawn up in some localities.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWO_Nlfgek0 It's great that people who don't have the good sense to own a Vita will finally get to play this game.

First game of the big itchio bundle that I got working and tried out: https://juicybeast.itch.io/knightmare-tower It's pretty good if you're into the Jetpack Joyride style of gameplay where you're buying items and constantly making short runs trying to finish quests.
