(The Amazon Prime is mostly just a default to get the free shipping. We barely use the streaming service associated with it.)
@beej The pay for indies could be coupled with selective binging. You mostly pay for indies, but you have one streaming service at a time that you pay for, and your family binge watches what they want to on that streaming service during the month. You then cancel it after a month or two, and pick another streaming service for the next month. We've actually trimmed down to just 3 streaming services (Youtube Premium, Netflix, Amazon Prime) and pay about $70 on Patreon in addition.
@deshipu @trokhymchuk Attempts to make file systems behave like feature-rich databases always seems to end in failure.
I'm already looking for a way out from systemd though since it's kind of the Borg of the linux world. I'm not a big fan of sysV either though. I've been dabbling in OpenRC and Shepherd, and heard good things about Runit and S6. Haven't decided which way I'm going to go, part of that is dependent on the distros available for those systems.

@deshipu Depending on where you are, it could be either the City or the HOA that considers their lawns more important. People have been put in jail, or had their homes seized for failing to keep their lawn up in some localities.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWO_Nlfgek0 It's great that people who don't have the good sense to own a Vita will finally get to play this game.
First game of the big itchio bundle that I got working and tried out: https://juicybeast.itch.io/knightmare-tower It's pretty good if you're into the Jetpack Joyride style of gameplay where you're buying items and constantly making short runs trying to finish quests.
https://www.crowdsupply.com/excamera/gameduino-3x-dazzler I can't wait for this to release. I'm going to try and get it going on Micropython first.
@stuff Oh, I didn't know you had a Neon. I had a 2005 one for about 6 years.
Always weird when the people I follow on mastodon.social are talking technology, and the ones on mastodon.technology are talking politics.
I'm somewhat surprised that you can't latch them without unbuckling yourself. If it's unlatched, that seems like the time you would least want to be unbuckled. You've lost one safety, for falling out, but you'd have to disable your second one to fix it... That is kind of boggling.
@fribbledom https://scholars-stage.blogspot.com/2020/05/on-days-of-disorder.html A discussion on riots, and why they happen. It tries to explore some of the riots where there's no way to blame it on being left out of the social contract.
@chillja @fribbledom I wouldn't call them that, it's what they call themselves. I usually refer to them as the 'Fa.
@chillja @fribbledom It has a specific meaning of a specific organized group of thugs here, it's not just "anti fascists." They're also the ones setting all of the fires, and inciting all of the riots and looting. Calling them "Anti Fascists" is like calling North Korea the "Democratic People's Republic of Korea." or a certain German state the "Holy Roman Empire."

He's chipping away at concrete so he can get weapons to throw at the police, to incite them to attack a peaceful black lives matter protest. The protestors are having none of it and turn him over to the police.
@chillja @fribbledom That's the thing about america. Our Liberals aren't the least bit like foreign liberals, our conservatives aren't really like your conservatives, and our antifa isn't anything at all like your anti-fascists. All of the words and concepts get twisted by the people who play word games here.
@js Fido Opus Seadog Standard Interface Layer?
@lastfuture @fribbledom I looked up the cost of 64 gigabit DDR4 chips. $55 in 1000 quantity. Almost all of the cost of that board is the memory chip. Honestly, if I got one of these it would just be for the novelty. It might be useful for running VMs on the board, but almost all of the uses I have for a Pi can be handled by the 2gb and 4gb models.
The Living Computer museum was an important piece of preservation and archival for an industry that would rather you forget everything they’ve done that’s no longer for sale.
This is a huge loss, and I fear we are unlikely to see anything like it in North America again.
