The usual. Software developer, former BBS sysop. Atari XE, Dos, OS/2, BeOS, Windows 2000/7 former user, Linux/FreeBSD/Haiku/OpenIndiana current user. The various places I post are listed: https://arkaic.com/

@pro @sima After a certain point, old machines get relegated from Linux duty, to Haiku, NetBSD, or Hurd duty. The oldest machine I have active around here is an Asus EEE901 running Haiku 32bit, though I have a couple of inactive machines that are loaded with AtariBasic.

@KC8JC So, you're saying the next big social media growth industry for corporations to insert themselves into is web ring software? :D

@TechConnectify @diligentcircle Maybe touch screens are a really bad interface when you're doing a complex task. And we've outsourced all of our in-car entertainment and navigation to devices with touch screens. Instead of apple carplay and android auto, we should be trying to make interfaces that don't require you to look at them to control them. Of course, creating a standard set of buttons that all media, and navigation apps, and all car interfaces can implement is a challenge. Android is really bad at even routing the next/play/pause/previous buttons to the right place.

@TechConnectify So as long as it's in the context of casual conversation, I wouldn't have a problem with it. If they start putting it that way in a ledger though, that's right out.

@TechConnectify Well, when you say it out loud, it would be "Dollars 200" but "200 Dollars" so I imagine that this is an abbreviation to speech rather than indicating it as a number on a spreadsheet.

@fribbledom It probably lost me at both "mobile" and "app." I imagine the API is also closed, so there's no making an open source replacement app for it.

@union Those look like they're a bit higher quality at least, good stitching around the edges. They don't look like cheap quality fake leather or rubber with printing and very cheap stitching.

@union Honestly, they look like the kind of patches that you would get on cheap chinese backpacks to make them look more official.

@union Weird, a US veteran I know uses that name, B+Pos for Be Positive, his first initial is B though.

@benjedwards Nice that 6502 has an equivalent of the Amiga Vampire 68080.

@TechConnectify @eukara Google did that with RSS, they embraced it, kept adding stuff until they had everyone on their service and away from other rss services, then they killed it and tried to force everyone over to their closed system. It's happened over and over again with open standards and companies making their own enhanced versions.

@TechConnectify @eukara I'm personally not opposed to growth, but suspicious of a company that will do the old "Embrace Extend Extinguish" routine.

@beej I took the other way out and put my $8 per month into running an instance. Just a micro-instance though.

@beej @Texan_Reverend @Graham_LRR If it's an individual user, it would be blocking. If it's an entire instance, it would be defederating.

@benjedwards @caseynewton Naa, just let it wither.

@gamingonlinux @eniko I lucked out and was already entirely off twitter by the time they decided to flip the switch from blow (investor money) to suck (money in for investor.) It'd probably be best for each developer to just have their own bloody RSS feed for the news sites to follow for their press releases and information.

@union @BobsonDugnuttHB True, but it's also going to be a target before Romania proper, since it already has the start of the invasion force inside of it. Of course, to close off the geographic gaps, they'll need that one valley from Romania too.

@union @BobsonDugnuttHB I don't think that's how that works. I think they're preparing for war because they think Russia won't be satisfied with just Ukraine, and they'll want to push as close to their cold war borders as possible, which means taking the Baltics, Poland, Moldova and part of Romania.

@gamingonlinux https://www.nerfnow.com/img/3177/4775.png Masto/fediverse can be really bad at image links and embeds...
